We had a small group meeting at Pastor Steve and Jen's house. Their little boy, Ian, was driving the 5-year-old girls crazy by throwing sand at them! What a little angel!

This little guy was hiding in our laundry room when we got home! Ok...so he wasn't really "little"! He was almost 2 inches long! I didn't have a chance to get a shot in focus before he decided to FLY onto the washer! I didn't know that Praying Mantises could FLY!!!

S'mores! Greg wanted something sweet, so he found a recipe for making s'mores in the oven! They are super delicious! And easy! Preheat the oven to 300 degrees, cover a cookie sheet with foil, place the bottom graham cracker and marshmallows on the foil, and bake for 4-6 minutes. They won't get brown or anything, but they get hot and melt the chocolate and they are delicious!!!

In KC, there is a store called T-Rex, and inside, Build-A-Bear has opened a store called Build-A-Dino where you can make yourself a "Friendasaur". We made MoFoo (right) last year when we were in KC for a couple of concerts (Mofro and Foo Fighters) and decided that he needed a sister. So, this time around, we made Trifecta the Triceratops. Today they sat outside while we grilled out and enjoyed another gorgeous evening.

For Kenny's birthday, we went to KC with the Allred's to see the Royals play the Angels. Unfortunately, they lost, but we still had a great time! Here are all of the boys enjoying some of the action.

Kenny's 11th birthday was September 3, but, once again, we celebrated a day later so that the whole family could come. Jennifer made the kitchen look like a baseball stadium and the dining room table looked like the field!

The Sugar Sisters Bakery is one of our favorite East side spots. They have the best cupcakes ever made and their sandwiches, soups, and five cheese mac 'n cheese are amazing! They display art from local artists and even have a Bingo night once a week!

Dr. Mindy Ewert in the house! She was our second dinner guest since we got married. We had homemade mac n' cheese with watermelon and for dessert we had angel food cake with whipped cream, blueberries, and chocolate syrup! Before she left, Mindy gave us each an adjustment, free of charge. She is moving back home soon and will be working at my chiropractor's office as an independent contractor. So, basically, she rules.

Grillin' and Games at Cross Road. The kids built box cars and there was a prize awarded. The winner was a box that looked like the bottom of a cupcake and the little girl wore a poofy collar around her neck and a cherry on her head. You can barely see her in the left background. All of the kids had a great time with this competition!

Our first dinner guest! Jamie came over as our guinea pig guest. I made French Bread Pizza and feta and craisin salad using all new kitchen gadgets and dinnerware. We also had grapes and watermelon. It was so much fun!

The Legend of Peg-Leg Miley
Once upon a time there was a beautiful orange kitty named Miley. She had an unfortunate run-in with the scourge of the seas, Captain Tide the Detergent. As a result, she had to sail to the port of Pet Haven and, due to her injuries in the fight with Captain Tide, one of her pretty little legs had to be shaven. Her normally sweet disposition was replaced by a seriously cranky attitude. Now she sails the seven seas on her ship The Gilbert and will forever be known as the fearsome Peg-Leg Miley.
